Mid-year Update

Ok, it's not quite the middle of the year yet, but, it's Memorial Day, and I haven't done a post since New Years.

Item #1: Ranger Crushes.  My first trifecta in ten years. First, the lone female Ranger, another yellow.

For those who want to keep track, my total is now 8 yellow, 6 pink, 1 blue, 1 red, 1 Purple.

Next, the bad girl.

In story, she was going to be the Yellow Ranger, until she was corrupted by the big bad of the season, a sentient computer virus.

And finally, the supporting character:
If only she dressed like this on the show. Most pf the time, she's in a rather frumpy uniform.

Item #2: Purchases.

On Free Comic Book Day (May 4), I got a Voltron DVD set at a garage sale. (Red Lion themed, volume 4. A great bargain at $.50. Well, at a Memorial Day sale, I scored the other four Lion volumes. But two get one free. They were $9.99 each, which, for Yellow, was much cheaper than Amazon.

Now the problem part. There are still three volumes out there, covering the lesser-loved Vehicle Voltron. Volumes 7 & 8 are relatively reasonable on Amazon. Volume 6, however, is not. About $300 on Amazon. eBay is slightly better, but not good enough, with the cheapest being around $116. So, Vehicle Voltron will have to wait.

Another recent purchase was something old school. I saw a PS2 at a thrift store for $35 about a month ago. I passed on it, and started regretting it. Well, fate was on my side. I got a perfectly functional PS2 Slim on eBay a few weeks ago, for less than half that. I had a coupon from eBay, so, before shipping, it was only $9.50. It came with one controller, one memory card and one game. (A title I had never heard of, don't remember its name, and only have played once.) Since winning the auction, I have begun rebuilding my PS1 & PS2 library. I started with a few of my real favorites. Simpsons Road Rage, Burnout Takedown, Robin Hood: Defenders of the Crown, Hot Shots Golf 3 and Virtual Pool. I also bought a second controller and a PS1 memory card.  Now, Ive added on Batman Begins: the Game, Hot Shots Golf Fore, Robotech: Battlecry, Midway Arcade Classics, Activision Anthology, James Bond: Everything or Nothing, Golden Nugget casino, Spy Hunter and Star Wars Battlefront II. (Still need to find Battlefront I.) And with garage sale season just really getting started, who knows how big my library will get.

(To put this in context, I had a PS2, with a sizable library, but I sold it and all the games so I could buy a PS4, when that was still a new system.)

Item #3: Misc.

Even though the year isn't even half over, Im starting to work on the list of Crushes for next January 1.

I've seen more movies this year than last year, thanks to joining AMC's A-List program. That really paid off right before Christmas, when I had three movies opening the same weekend. (Aqauman, Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns.) I've also used that to see Avengers Endgame twice in as many weekends. (Still haven't beaten my almost 30 year old record for seeing the same movie twice in one day, that being Tim Burton's Batman, but, one never knows.) Last movie Ive seen was Disney's live action Aladdin, next movie up is Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

That's all I can think of for now. Will there be another post before the year ends? I don't know.

New year, new Crushes

Happy 2019. Finally, the year of Avengers Endgame and Star Wars Episode IX has arrived.

And as I do every year, it's time to announce my new Crushes. Just like the Queen's New Year's Honors.

Also from Bumblebee, and from a short lived Nickelodeon show called Supah Ninjas (Which co-starred George Takei), Gracie Dzienny.

From Aquaman and Justice League, Amber Heard.

From Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Daniella Pineda.

From last year's Robin Hood, Bono's daughter, Eve Hewson.

From Seventh Son, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the remake of Tomb Raider. Alicia Vikander. (Seen here with her little golden friend.)

From Oz: The Great and Powerful. The Greatest Showman, Venom and the TV movie Killing Mr. Grifin (which co-starred Ranger Crush #1, Amy Jo Johnson), Michelle Williams.

From DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Tala Ashe.

From the new Magnum P.I. and Ready Player One, Perdita Weeks.

Also from Ready Player One, Olivia Cooke.

From Jurassic World, and several episodes of The Big Bang Theory, Lauren Lapkus.

From the Fantastic Beasts movies, Katherine Waterston.

From DC Daily, on the DC Universe streaming service, Clarke Wolfe...

… and Whitney Moore.

There are no new illustrated Crushes this year, and I wont know about Ranger Crushes until sometime in February at the earliest, but, I do have two YouTube crushes, both from the same YouTube channel, Top 10 Nerd. Roya Destroyaa…

… and Amanda McKnight.

And that rounds out this year's new Crushes. Ranger Crushes will be added once the new series, Beast Morphers, debuts.
